Add a ‘pop of colour’ in your kitchen!

At the start of every year, the designers at Ray Munn Kitchens familiarise themselves with the trend predictions for the forthcoming year, and this year has been no different!

Along with key trend houses and the Pantone institution, we closely follow leading industry experts and interior specialists to ensure that we stay firmly ahead in the world of kitchen design. Like any prediction made, not all come true! However, the forecast of introducing ‘pops of colour’ is definitely a trend that’s on the increase. This trend could be confused with the use of an accent colour. Unlike an accent colour that tends to be included on a feature wall and then repeated again around the room, a ‘pop of colour’ might simply be a feature light fitting, a colourful splashback, a piece or artwork, or a few open shelves in a vibrant shade!

Like all trends, there are no hard and steadfast rules. It’s not always about the colour that you pick, but more about where you use it! How you choose to interpret a trend is totally up to you, but if you need any guidance, we’re always here to help.

muted wood tones cabinetry

the epitome of Italian design

Our Arredo 3 kitchens are the epitome of Italian design, offering cabinetry in muted wood tones to suit the more discerning customer, with bold and bright options for those who dare to be brave!

Only last year Houzz, the online directory for sourcing interiors and home renovations, predicted that colourful kitchens were set to make a surge in popularity.

It definitely isn’t every day that a customer will choose a new kitchen in a primary or bright colour. However, having analysed the searches that people were making, Houzz stated that ‘yellow kitchens’ had seen a significant increase, as had the number of uploads to their site of colourful kitchen imagery.

Whilst an entirely yellow kitchen is likely to date very quickly, and possibly become too much, if yellow is used as ‘pops of colour’ the overall scheme tells a very different story.

Houzz also noted that frequent searches also included ‘green kitchens’ and ‘blue kitchens’, with both of these predictions cited as trends for 2021 too!

Whilst cream could never be considered a vibrant colour, searching for ‘cream kitchens’ has overtaken the search for ‘white kitchens’ – a possible sign that people want to introduce colour back into their lives and homes.
