Incorporating metal elements into kitchen design

Undoubtedly, most if not all kitchens incorporate some form of metallic element into their design.

Usually, it’s by way of the chosen kitchen tap, and frequently metal handles feature too.

Chrome has been a firm favourite for many years, but like so many trends that come and go, in recent years, its popularity has been shared between stainless steel and brushed nickel.

Long before the popularity of chrome started, brass was the only choice in essence. As kitchen styles moved away from classic door profiles into minimal and contemporary designs, brass was no longer deemed suitable as a complementary finish.

Kitchen taps, cabinet handles and even accessories were really only available in brass until that point, but very quickly the diversity of products available in chrome surged, to accommodate the change in consumer buying. In turn, chrome plating methods improved, enabling even more products and accessories to become available.

This transition from brass to chrome also transpired into bathrooms, allowing chrome brassware to become the standard considered finish, whilst brass was viewed as old hat!

The beginning of the millennium saw the introduction of copper. This warm metallic shade, which was clearly influenced by the popularity of rose gold in fashion, was initially perceived to be a short-term trend. Still popular today, copper has clearly inspired a resurgence of matt gold and brass, along with the exploration of many more tonal variations of brushed chrome.

With so many metallic finishes available, it’s not always easy to know which one will work best in your new kitchen, and that’s where the likes of the designers at Ray Munn Kitchens can help! Not only will they create you a fabulous kitchen layout, but the finite details that they can suggest will ensure that your kitchen is the envy of your friends and family. It’s just one of the many reasons why employing the services of an established kitchen showroom pays dividends, as many of their ideas are sure to be ones that you would simply have not considered!

Going all out for brushed gold!

As well as selecting brushed gold handles and a co-ordinating kitchen tap, both the hob and the detailing to the kitchen extractor hood also feature the warm metallic shade, the perfect complement to the green cabinet colour.
