Inspired by the coastal setting of Mersea Island within the river Blackwater, Essex, our Mersea kitchen style combines contemporary design elements with natural materials including wood, glass and stone, embodying the landscape and bringing an organic feel to the style. Synergy between kitchen design and natural living is achieved by the Mersea kitchen, hence its uncomplicated design ethos and emphasis on ergonomics above aesthetics.
This style aims to embody the landscape and bring an organic feel to the kitchen. While it shares the simplicity and emphasis on quality craftsmanship with the Shaker style, the Mersea kitchen prioritises a stronger connection to nature and the surrounding environment. As with all Davonport furniture, internal solid oak dovetail drawers and handmade internal cutlery trays are true testament to the craftsmen who make our furniture in our Colchester workshop, just as they would have been, all those years ago.
