Staying in is the new ‘going out’!

Over the coming weeks, the way we live will be very different for the majority of us.

We are all having to make significant changes to the way we go about our daily lives, from home schooling children to simply shopping for essential food items only when absolutely necessary. Staying in is the only way forward! Going out is off limits, making your kitchen one of the most important rooms in your home currently.

OUR CANTERBURY KITCHEN, PAINTED IN TWO CO-ORDINATING BESPOKE GREEN COLOURS, IS A SURE WAY TO BRING THE OUTSIDE ‘IN’…

Getting through the next few weeks is going to be tough, especially if you’re juggling the different plates of being the head chef, a teacher, a carer of others or indeed simply trying to be a parent!

Take time to eat together…

Many working parents frequently eat independently of their children, often later in the evening. Try and introduce a set time for your evening meal and encourage everyone to sit together.

A TILLINGHAM PAINTED KITCHEN, WITH ITS SUBTLE WOOD ACCENTS, CREATES A CLEAN AND CALMING INTERIOR SPACE…

Set the table…

Create place settings for everyone at least once a week. Whether it’s for Sunday lunch or one night in the week, children and especially young children love to have a ‘job role’! Asking a child to lay out the cutlery whilst you are cooking could be a welcome distraction both for you and for them, from this intense situation we currently find ourselves in.

WITH A DEDICATED SEATING AREA IN THIS MERSEA KITCHEN, NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE A SPACE FOR EATING, BUT SOMEWHERE FOR HOME SCHOOLING AND RELAXING TOO!

Don’t waste food!

We’ve all probably been guilty of buying more than we needed in recent weeks and now any fresh items could be in danger of spoiling. Ensure you regularly check your larder units and ‘add lib’ on your recipes, using up the older fruit and vegetables first.

A PANTRY UNIT LIKE THIS ONE IS THE IDEAL SPACE TO STORE PERISHABLE GOODS, DRY FOODS AND EVEN ALCOHOL, AND NO-ON IS GOING TO DENY YOU THE ODD TIPPLE OR TWO AT THE MOMENT!

Sort out your kitchen cupboards…

It’s going to be hard to get motivated in these uncertain times, but keeping everything orderly and tidy is good for your mindset. Tackle a cupboard at a time… you’ll be sure to feel you’ve accomplished something and instantly feel a bit more positive!

ADD A BIT OF SPARKLE INTO YOUR KITCHEN WITH GLASS FRONTED CABINETS AND GLAMOROUS LIGHTING.

Try a new recipe!

If you’re stuck for ideas as to what to make, let google help! Type in the ingredients that you have to use up or fancy eating and see what dishes appear in the search results!

A BREAKFAST BAR IS SURE TO BECOME ONE OF THE MOST SOCIABLE PLACES IN YOUR HOME OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS!

Keep a pen and paper or blackboard handy…

With so many things to remember, keep a notepad or blackboard to hand and write yourself reminders as and when they pop into your head! Once completed and crossed off your ‘to-do’ list you’ll feel some satisfaction in what you’ve achieved no matter how small the task.

IF YOU’RE CURRENTLY HOME SCHOOLING CHILDREN, WHY NOT TURN YOUR ‘TO-DO’ LIST BLACKBOARD INTO AN EDUCATIONAL FUN PUZZLE BOARD INSTEAD?

Don’t deny yourself the odd treat!

In times such as these, it’s important to still have the odd indulgence. Whether it’s a glass of your favourite tipple, a sweet treat or 10 minutes with a good book, when this is all over, and it will be, you might just find yourself writing your first cookbook or cocktail recipe book!

IN TIMES SUCH AS THESE, WE ALL WISH WE HAD SPACE FOR A ‘DRINKS’ CUPBOARD!

Share with us the ways you are staying ‘sane’ in these unprecedented times but above else, #StaySafe.
