Add colour in your kitchen with a little help from Ray Munn…
Right now, more than ever, we could do with a little colour in our lives!
Whilst we are all certainly spending a lot more time in our homes than ever before, rooms such as the kitchen have become a much more sociable place.
Obviously everyone uses their kitchen for food preparation and cooking, and whilst many of us may choose to eat in there too, the chances are that in these current unprecedented times, your kitchen is currently being used for all manner of tasks! From scientific experiments and learning how to make cakes in lieu of home schooling, to simply being a place for five minutes quiet time, the kitchen, much like the population is suddenly required to adapt.
Once this pandemic is over, we will either love our current kitchens or be desperate to change them, and for many of us it will be the latter.
In times like these, having something optimistic and enjoyable to look forward to can have a really positive effect on a persons mindset. Whilst many of us might be longing for a holiday abroad, international travel is currently on hold indefinitely, making a new kitchen a great alternative focus, as it could not only add value to your property, but also be considered good for your health and wellbeing too!
It’s important to realise that not all blues are melancholy shades - brighter blues such as cobalt and ultra marine can actually have the opposite effect and create energy within a room.
Team blues such as this, with subtle creams and whites for a truly opulent kitchen with celebrity style!
Choosing green for a kitchen is a fabulous way of bringing the outside indoors, or creating an open plan living space that incorporates outside too!
Green looks sensational with warm, mid toned woods and other natural elements such as limestone flooring and marble or granite work surfaces.
Get it right and warmer greys can look spectacular in a kitchen!
Recently hot yellow has been used as a popular accent colour in interior design, just adding a few pops of a bright and cheery colour in complete contrast to the sophisticated, urban looks of grey and off white.
Like warmer greys, those erring towards the blue spectrum offer both sophisticated appeal and industrial charm! Choose nearly black accessories and work surfaces and you’re sure to create an on-trend kitchen, oozing with utilitarian style.
For truly dramatic results, consider an accent colour such as aubergine or plum? It will sure to create a talking point in your kitchen, especially if teamed with a fabulous chandelier or feature light!
