Why have a feature wall within your kitchen?
The main role of a kitchen, as you would expect—
a place to plan, prepare, cook, serve and even eat meals. Often it’s a room that acts a social hub too, and in more recent months it’s been a makeshift office area for so many as well!
To ensure that the overall layout does not simply become a run of furniture, or ‘cupboard after cupboard’, specialist kitchen designers challenge the boundaries of design to ensure that as well as storage, the kitchen oozes with elegance! What ultimately becomes the feature wall or area, isn’t necessarily always the most obvious. In fact, some of the most visually impactful kitchens are those where the considered design is ‘out of the box!’
Likewise, and especially in an open plan kitchen, a feature wall might naturally become the main run of units.
But rather than fit as many in as is possible, good kitchen designers may ‘step change’ the heights of units, often suggesting a contrasting door finish or glass frontage, which in turn will naturally draw the eye towards the furniture…
Introduce paint…
An obvious way of creating a feature is with paint. This can either be a bold colour to add definition to the space, or a more subtle tone from the overall room scheme. The wall itself can be painted, giving dynamic results, especially if the shade is striking! Or if you choose a painted kitchen from our Davonport range, there is the option to have two or more colours for your units, with perhaps the breakfast bar or island unit being in a contrasting or complementary finish?
Alternatively, combine painted units with stunning wood for truly opulent looks?
